About Maria
Maria is an AHPRA registered and endorsed Educational and Developmental Psychologist. Maria has over ten years’ experience as a psychologist working within Autism Queensland and multidisciplinary private practices, and as a Guidance Counsellor within primary schools.
Maria is passionate about her work, and recognizes it is a great privilege to support clients through life’s tricky things. She believes in ensuring that people are heard, seen, understood and cared for. Maria is very family oriented and loves to spend time in nature with her husband and two little girls (aged one and four).
Individual Support.
Maria offers a gentle and nurturing approach to supporting clients, with a strength and systemic focused lens. Maria has experience with clinical concerns around anxiety, depression, behaviour challenges, self-esteem, and development of social skills, and in advocating for the needs of school age children. Her therapeutic techniques are based on CBT, drawn from ACT, mindfulness, play therapy, attachment theory and circle of security.
Assessment.
Undertaking formal standardised assessment can be an empowering process toward self- and mutual understanding and acceptance. Maria is experienced in cognitive, learning, developmental assessment, incorporating a holistic overview of one’s relative weaknesses and highlighting one’s unique strengths. Maria offers psycho-educational assessments to understand underlying cognitive function and impairment, for diagnosis of specific learning disorders and neuro-developmental disorders such as ADHD and ASD.
